While the X-Men are recovering from their fight with Proteus, the villain continues to search for his dad, Joseph MacTaggert. Eventually, the X-Men and Moira MacTaggert catch up with Proteus plead with him to stop. Instead, Proteus fights the X-Men again, destroying and reassembling a building in the process. Proteus leaves and the heroes decide to try and get to Joseph before he does. They get to his building and try to warn him of the danger, but he dismisses it.
The next day, Joseph is giving a public announcement and the X-Men are on stakeout, trying to stop Proteus reaching his dad. Despite their efforts, Proteus manages to reach the stage and Wolverine, remembering his body being split into two, retreats from the fight, leaving Rogue and Beast to fight the villain. After the fight is over, the team talk with Wolverine about his fear, which is astounding as he has never been afraid in his life, according to Beast.
Proteus arrives at another of Joseph's press conferences but Moira is there and threatens to use a laser to kill him. However, Professor X arrives and manages to persuade Proteus to let him in his mind. The Professor manages to calm down Proteus and he is put back into isolation, but not before he and his father reconcile.
