Plot[]
In Germany, local townspeople gather in the aims of ridding a 'demon' from their town. The demon turns out to be Nightcrawler, who is hiding in the town's church. Meanwhile, the X-Men are on a skiing holiday in the Alps. Overhearing a conversation about demons, Wolverine asks some holiday makers about these supposed 'demons'. He, Rogue and Gambit then go skiing, looking for any demons. Gambit accidentally causes an avalanche which buries the three X-Men.
After passing out in the snow, the three awake in a chapel and meet Brother Reinhardt, who is anxious at having strangers in the chapel. Reinhardt tries to knock out Gambit but fails and Rogue gives chase to the villain. Rogue falls from a ledge but is rescued by Nightcrawler. Everyone assumes that it was Nightcrawler who tried to attack Gambit, with Wolverine attacking the mutant. Johan appears and informs the X-Men that Nightcrawler is in fact a Brother of the Abbot and an ally, despite his demonic appearance.
Nightcrawler tells his origin, showing how he was abandoned by his mother as a baby (revealed to the viewers as Mystique) and how he later dedicated his life to God and joined the Abbey. Wolverine is sceptical at first as he does not believe in God but later consoles in Nightcrawler that he had lost his faith in religion.
Meanwhile, Reinhardt goes down to the nearby village and tells the villagers that the 'demon' they are looking for is up at his Chapel and he has allies with him. The villagers march up to the Chapel and attack Nightcrawler and the X-Men. The Chapel soon catches alight and Nightcrawler manages to save Reinhardt's life, convincing him that he is not a threat.
Wolverine, Rogue and Gambit arrive in Paris to finish their vacation and Wolverine is seen praying at the Cathedral, his faith restored by Nightcrawler.
