Moira MacTaggert is a scientist who is based on Muir Island and caters to mutants.
History[]
During her college years, Moira met and befriended Charles Xavier and the two became close. Moira later married Joseph MacTaggert, with whom she had a son, Kevin MacTaggert, who would grow up to become the mutant 'Proteus'. Moira built the Muir Island Research Centre to cater for her son and help him with his dangerous mutation. Due to his cold nature towards their son, Moira divorced Joseph.
Moira let 'Dr Gottfried Adler' stay at her research centre while he worked on his cure for mutants. His work brought the attention of Xavier and Rogue but it was later revealed that Adler was actually Mystique in disguise, working for Apocalypse.
At some point, Moira became romantically involved with Banshee. When Jean Grey became the host for the Phoenix Force, Moira offered her research centre for use to study the extra-terrestrial being and it was also the site of the meeting with the Shi'ar. Also, Moira helped to rehabilitate Morph after his dealings with Mister Sinister
When Moira's son, Kevin, broke out of his containment, looking for his father, the X-Men were brought to help bring the troubled mutant back in and stop him from rampaging. Moira was present when Xavier was shot and critically injured. She helped to contact the Shi'ar who came to Xavier's aid and took him away with them for treatment.
