Michael Morbius is also known as the plasma draining vampire, Morbius.
History[]
Michael Morbius was a student at ESU alongside the likes of Peter Parker, Felicia Hardy and Debra Whitman. After saving Felicia from being mugged, she and Morbius began dating, with Morbius rejecting Debra's advances. Morbius began secretly testing on vampire bats, believing that they were the cause of a disease which was afflicting his home country. After coming into contact with Peter's irradiated blood, Morbius was bit by a bat which resulted in him turning to a vampire and dependent on draining plasma to survive.
Morbius was pursued by Spider-Man, who felt responsible for what had happened to him, tried to track Morbius down but was repeatedly dogged by the Punisher and his genetic mutation disease. Eventually, Spider-Man teamed with Blade to try and stop Morbius. It was at this point that Morbius was accidentally exposed to an advanced treatment from the Neogenic Recombinator, turning him into a more bat-like creature. Morbius flew away to a cave somewhere and began to hibernate.
Later, an expedition lead by Debra Whitman and funded by Herbert Landon lead to the mutated Morbius being discovered and brought back to New York. Dr. Curt Connors conducted an experiment which tried to cure Morbius but failed. After a fight involving Flash Thomspon and Shocker, Morbius awoke and escaped into the city, craving plasma. After being kidnapped by Landon and Shocker, Mrobius was freed by Spider-Man and Felicia, now Black Cat, and after was soon turned back into his vampire appearance but without his cravings for plasma. As such, Morbius travelled to Europe with Black Cat and Blade to rid the world of vampires and fight Miriam, the Queen of the Vampires.
Morbius was seen fighting Miriam and her vampires alongside Blade and Black Cat when the latter was selected to be part of the Secret Wars.
